I love Mimi Smartypants' blog so much I bought her book. I don't feel this way about many bloggers. I mean, I'll masturbate quite happily to Wicked Wife (even though I'm not much of a masturbator), but I doubt I'd ever buy a book from her... by her... whatever.
I went to Staples today, looking for more furniture to put clothes in. I've got this mistaken idea I just have to buy enough drawers to hold all my clothes. I know I should just get rid of the stuff I don't wear, but I can't quit romanticizing the magic of organization.
I briefly considered buying a very tall filing cabinet made of fake wood for the low low price of ninety eight dollars and filling it with t-shirts, then came to my senses, said to myself, "a bunch of milk crates are good enough for your stupid t-shirts," and bought a trash can screenprinted with soda can tabs, twelve ball point pens and a folding file case for my bank statements.
Some distant day in the future I'd like to buy a tiny cottage and fill it with bookshelves and only the bare essentials partly because I read this wonderful article a couple weeks ago about a small spaces movement that celebrates simplifying your life and living only in the space you need instead of living in a huge house one person can't even clean by themselves, let alone heat efficiently or occupy entirely. It also talked about how, the bigger your house is, the more stuff you buy to fill it with and if you live in a small space you end up buying only what you need, which sounds like a very attractive idea to me.
