It took six hours for my car to get inspected. Six hours! I had breakfast, lunch, hot chocolate and tea and read most of two books, all in coffee shops and restaurants while waiting for the phone call saying I could pick my car up.
There was this vegetable omelet... it had mushrooms and cheese and tomatoes and spinach and other stuff in it. The potatoes that came on the side were delicious. The sour dough toast was not so much so.
I went to a place for lunch that has this delicious pita sandwich with mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto in it. It comes with a salad on the side that has walnuts and feta in it, among other things. I don't normally eat feta, but this salad is so delicious it doesn't matter what they put in it. (The dressing especially.)
I love this town. I love the food. I love how safe it feels to live here. But I also hate this town.
I ran into a girl while I was drinking tea who knows my brother and wanted to talk about how concerned she was about him and wanted my insight on his constant spiral downwards. Then she started asking questions about me and wanted to know if I had a support network. And then tried to offer herself as a support network even though I've only talked to her maybe half a dozen times. Then the guys at the car repair shop offered to bill my inspection to my mother's account, but I said I'd pay for it and that became a whole discussion about how my mom could afford it, they'd seen the articles about the land deal, didn't I get money from that as well? I told them no, my mother had all the money. (It sounded like they weren't up to date on my dad's death though since they just mentioned the land.)
Blah. I hate this town. I love it. And I hate it.
